TBS March News!!!!

The Very First FUN Nite
The word FUN, means Fellowship Unites. Through fellowship, we, the Student Council along with the seniors of TUC, as well as the new students of TBF, ADP, and UWE, were united in a wonderful night filled with much joy and laughter.

The FUN Nite was specially organized for the new students (as part of their orientation) to have the opportunity to make new friends, and create lasting friendships among their new classmates.

The event kick-started with a welcoming speech from Miss Angela Pok, Senior Manager of Student Services and Marketing. Her speech was full of wisdom and very inspiring. It motivated the new students as well as encouraged them to tackle the new challenges in their college life head on.

After which, the launching of the FUN Program was officiated by Miss Sandy, Assistant Manager Student Services, Mr. Esmond, Student Event Advisor, and Mr. Brian Hoo, SC Pro Tem President.

The ice breaking session conducted by the emcees successfully shattered the invisible wall between the students and brought them closer together. To further promote friendship, the Game Master initiated a game called “Untangle”. The new students tried their best to untangle themselves from each other. However, some were stuck whilst untangling, thus further tangled themselves and resorted to call for S.O.S. It was quite amusing to watch.

The ‘Spoon Game’ was another highlight of the evening. Students were required to put a spoon through their clothes, from top to bottom. Initially, many of the girls were reluctant to play the game. But after much persuasion by their new friends, they joined in the fun. Overall, 4 games were played that night.

Soon it was dinner time where the students were treated to a delicious spread of food. During the dinner, the new students were given a chance to check out the clubs and societies available at Taylor’s. The representatives from each club were there to present a showcase to the students so that they have a better idea as to what they will be getting into upon joining.
The FUN Nite ended with performances from the Taekwando Club, Music Club, and AIESEC. All the super kicks from the Taekwando members created interests amongst the girls to enquire more about self-defense. Whereas the representatives from the Music Club performed 2 melodious numbers that night. It was more like a mini concert rather than a performance, which the students enjoyed thoroughly. The square dance performed by the AIESECers was very popular too. It was cool, chic and fun!
Every good thing has to end somehow. It was soon time to wrap up the evening and say goodbye. The organizer wishes all the new students good luck in their new journey. Cheers!

Love is in the air
St Valentine’s Day is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards, flowers, gifts and candies. It is considered the most romantic day of the year.

All couples, regardless of age, celebrate Valentine’s Day on 14 February. It is a day where every girl dreams of receiving flowers, especially roses. This explains why the sale of roses rises incredibly every year come St Valentine’s Day.

This year, in conjunction with this ever romantic day, the Student Council and Circle K of TBS collaborated to spread some LOVE in the air. The purpose of this collaboration was to raise funds for the Agahthian Shelter.
The clubs prepared special gifts for sale. The gifts included the much sought after “Love Cookies” and “Message On-The-Stone”. The “Love Cookies” conveyed the full message of unison and romance as the cookies were sweet not only in taste but aesthetically as well, as it was lovely to look at. Furthermore, the symbols of love were expressed on a stone, with a contemporary design of love as well as a love message. It was the best tool for confession and to show where your heart belongs to! That was not all, love notes were attached to each set, nicely wrapped with a small piece of white cloth with a pretty ribbon on top.
Eventhough St Valentine’s Day only happens once a year, we should not only express our love to that special somebody only on 14 Feb. A little suggestion to all couples: try to make each day a Valentine’s Day. Successful relationships require lots of understanding, patience and time so it is good to keep the sparks flying even after Feb 14th.
Let’s fill the air with love!
